Buddy Boeheim Set to Make TBT Debut with Syracuse’s Alumni Team

Boeheim’s Army, the Syracuse alumni team hosting The Basketball Tournament’s (TBT) regional at the SRC Arena at Onondaga Community College from July 19-23, today announced the roster addition of Syracuse great Buddy Boeheim.

Buddy Boeheim joins Elijah Hughes as the first two commitments on Boeheim’s Army’s roster. Additional players will be announced in the coming weeks.

Boeheim spent four years at Syracuse (2018–22), appearing in 121 games and helping lead the Orange to the Sweet 16 in 2021. He became a starter as a sophomore and averaged 17.4 points per game over his final three seasons, shooting 36.5% from three-point range. His standout performance came in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament, where he scored 30 points and hit seven three-pointers. As a senior, Boeheim averaged 19.2 points per game and earned First-Team All-ACC honors.

After leaving Syracuse, Boeheim signed a two-way contract with the Detroit Pistons and made 20 NBA appearances between 2022 and 2024, recording a career-high 13 points against the New Orleans Pelicans on March 24, 2024. In the NBA G League Boeheim spent two seasons with the Motor City Cruise before joining the Oklahoma City Blue for the 2024–25 season. Boeheim’s professional career high came in November, when he scored 39 points, including 12 three-pointers, in a win over the Memphis Hustle.

The winner of the Syracuse Regional will advance to TBT’s quarterfinals on July 29. The semifinals will be held on July 31, and TBT’s $1 million championship will be played on Aug. 3.

For the first time, TBT will give each host team the opportunity to have home court advantage for the quarterfinals, semifinals, and the $1 million championship game. Should two regional hosts face off, the tie breaker will be determined by which host sells 4,000 tickets the fastest.
