BOSTON, June 24, 2025 – The Basketball Tournament (TBT) – the $1 million, winner-take-all, summer basketball event televised live on FOX Sports today released the bracket for this year’s tournament. For the eighth year in a row, all games will feature TBT’s Elam Ending®. This year’s tournament begins July 18. Twenty-six games will be broadcast live on FOX, FS1, and FS2.

The field will feature a single-elimination format and will be supported by longtime apparel and footwear partner PUMA. The field will be split into eight regions, with each hosted by alumni teams representing locally renowned college basketball programs.

Through TBT’s “Home Court Advantage”, host teams now have the ability to play games in their home arena all the way through the championship game. Home Court Advantage was determined by a race to 4,000 tickets sold. Louisville fans won the race, and will now have the right to host the quarterfinals, semifinals, and the championship game as long as The Ville (Louisville) continues to win.  The quarterfinal pairings are Lexington vs. Louisville, Kansas City vs. Wichita, Syracuse vs. Indianapolis, and West Virginia vs. James Madison.

“This year’s field is particularly strong,” said TBT CEO and founder Jon Mugar. “There are a number of teams that could walk away with our 12th championship. We look forward to seeing if any of our host team fan bases are able to will their team to a championship!”

Former first-round pick Elijah Hughes and former Orange sniper Buddy Boeheim join a roster that includes TBT vets and former NBA players Chris McCullough, Rakeem Christmas, and Malachi Richardson. Legendary Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim will serve as his namesake’s head coach emeritus. In addition to Buddy, Jimmy Boeheim will also be on the team.
  • Arms Race Between Kentucky and Louisville Continues: After La Familia got the better of The Ville in their quarterfinals matchup last summer, bitter in-state rivals Kentucky and Louisville are loading up with talent ahead of what could be another rematch. Kentucky alumni team La Familia, who will play on campus this summer at Memorial Coliseum have added former first-round pick Archie Goodwin to a returning core of Willie Cauley-Stein and twins Andrew and Aaron Harrison. The Ville’s roster will include former NBA players and Cardinals legends Montrezl Harrell, Russ Smith, and David Johnson, as well as newcomer Jay Scrubb, a Louisville native who committed to the program before being drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers in 2020. Both teams are the top seeds in their respective regionals. Should the two teams meet this summer, the matchup will once again be at Freedom Hall in Louisville on July 28.

Shaquille O’Neal, Monte Morris Assemble TBT Teams: Current and former NBA stars are throwing their support behind TBT teams this summer. Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal will once again back Team Diesel, the number two seed in the Louisville Regional. Eight-year NBA veteran Monte Morris will serve as the co-general manager behind Locked In Elite, who are competing in the Indianapolis Regional.
