Kelly, Frankamp team up to send AfterShocks on to Round 2

Conner Frankamp and Rashard Kelly teamed up at Wichita State for years. On Friday night, playing in front of an energetic home crowd at Charles Koch Arena, the former teammates played like they were still in Shocker uniforms.

Kelly posted a double-double, and Frankamp overcame a slow start to finish with 15 points in a 60-53 win over the Ex-Pats.

“Our shots weren’t falling early,” said Frankamp. “Shots started falling in the second half.”

Frankamp attributed the slow start that yielded just seven first-quarter points to a bit of anxiety.

“There are nerves,” he said. “It’s all great in practice when nobody’s there. You get so excited. You want to hear that roar, especially for us playing at home. Everybody was super excited to go out there and play in front of fans.”

Kelly felt comfortable playing in front of the Shocker faithful.

“Get the crowd on your side,” said Kelly. “Rather be home than away.”
