DAYTON, Ohio – Americana for Autism started its TBT run with a thrilling win over Peacock Nation in TBT’s opening game at New York’s famed Rucker Park. In the quarterfinals against Florida TNT, the squad left no room for such late-game drama.

Chris Wright led five players in double figures, and Americana for Autism used a strong defensive effort and an 11-2 fourth-quarter run to defeat Florida TNT, 93-83.

“Our whole team should be up here [at the postgame press conference], because it’s a team win, “ said Americana for Autism coach Dwayne Morton.

J’Covan Brown had 12 points in the win for Americana for Autism, which is playing to raise awareness for Autism. Brown credited his team’s defense, which held TBT’s highest-scoring team to just 28% shooting from beyond the three-point arc.

“Our job was just to make everything tough for them, no matter what they did,” said Brown. “We just had to go in and execute the game plan that we talked about. It’s a team thing. No egos.”

Now just two wins away from TBT’s $1 million prize, Brown reflected on why he and his teammates want to take home the title.

“I’m just happy to be out there fighting for a cause,” said Brown. “Those kids around the world that are fighting autism–we’re fighting for them.”
