Davis Steel defeated La Familia 67-59 on Sunday afternoon at Historic Memorial Coliseum to capture its first-ever TBT $2 Million Championship, capping a remarkable run in front of nearly 5,000 fans on FOX. The victory completed an undefeated tournament for Davis Steel, which won five consecutive games to claim the winner-take-all prize.

Formerly known as Eberlein Drive, Davis Steel finally broke through after 14 years of perseverance. General Managers Matt Mitchell and Jacob Hirschmann, the only duo to enter a team in every edition of TBT since the tournament began in 2014, earned the championship that had eluded them after runner-up finishes in 2018 and 2025.

Terry Taylor led all scorers with 24 points and seven rebounds, delivering one of the greatest performances in TBT Championship Game history. His 24 points rank third-most in a TBT Championship Game and are the highest total since Kyle Fogg scored 29 points for Overseas Elite in the 2017 title game. Tournament MVP Gabe York added 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals, while Anthony Clemmons contributed seven points and four assists. Terrell Brown scored nine points off the bench, including the championship-clinching basket. Davis Steel controlled the glass 48-37, including a dominant 20 offensive rebounds that led to a 23-10 advantage in second-chance points.

Davis Steel seized control from the opening tip, racing out to a 12-2 lead behind early 3-pointers from Gabe York and Anthony Clemmons while holding La Familia scoreless for nearly three minutes. Taylor scored nine first-quarter points as Davis Steel carried a 17-9 advantage into the second quarter and never surrendered the lead.

La Familia slowly chipped away during the second quarter, trimming the deficit to six before Davis Steel answered with key baskets from Nate Watson and Clemmons to take a 32-26 lead into halftime.

The Kentucky Alumni pulled within four early in the third quarter at 32-28, but Davis Steel responded with the decisive run of the afternoon. Back-to-back 3-pointers from DJ Rodman and York sparked a 14-3 run, stretching the lead back to 52-40 entering the fourth quarter.

Davis Steel extended its advantage to 59-47 before the Elam Ending. La Familia made one final push, cutting the deficit to seven after James Mainor-Bell knocked down a 3-pointer to make it 63-56. Just as he did in the Las Vegas Non Alumni Championship three days earlier, Brown delivered the final blow, driving to the rim for the championship-winning layup to secure the 67-59 victory and the $2 million prize for Davis Steel.

La Familia was led by Archie Goodwin’s 19 points and five rebounds. Willie Cauley-Stein recorded a 10-point, 13-rebound double-double, including five offensive rebounds, while Darryl Morsell added nine points and five assists. Cauley-Stein’s 13 rebounds established a new TBT Championship Game record.

After more than a decade of coming up short, Davis Steel finally completed its journey, capturing the first TBT championship in franchise history and taking home the tournament’s $2 million winner-take-all prize.
