Liggins to Rejoin La Familia For Second Consecutive Summer
La Familia, the Kentucky alumni team, today announced that DeAndre Liggins will join the team this summer for their best-of-three series against The Ville (Louisville alumni).
Liggins joins Quade Green, Andrew Harrison, Kahlil Whitney, Willie Cauley-Stein, Reid Travis, and Archie Goodwin as the team’s first seven commitments. Additional players will be announced in the coming weeks.
Liggins spent three seasons at the University of Kentucky (2008-2011) playing in 100 games and averaging 5.8 points per game. Liggins was a key contributor in the Wildcats Elite Eight and Final Four runs in 2010 and 2011.
Professionally, Liggins was selected in the 2011 NBA draft by the Orlando Magic. Liggins played for multiple teams in the NBA from 2011-18, before traveling overseas to play professionally.
Liggins played for La Familia last summer, appearing in two games for the team.
As part of the best-of-three series, both teams will have a chance to host at least one home game. The first game of the series will take place at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington Saturday, July 18, at 12 pm ET, and will be televised live on FOX. Game two will be played at Freedom Hall in Louisville on Monday, July 20, at 7 pm ET, and will be televised live on FS1.
The host location for game three will be determined by which host site sells the most tickets in 24 hours. Game three (if necessary) will be played Wednesday, July 22 at 6 pm ET on FS1.
