The defending TBT champion AfterShocks (Wichita State Alumni) opened their title defense in dominant fashion Monday night, defeating The Enchantment (New Mexico Alumni) 98-77 in Game 1 of their best-of-three first-round series at Charles Koch Arena.
Before a strong home crowd, AfterShocks celebrated their 2025 TBT championship by raising the title banner into the rafters before tipoff. They carried that momentum onto the court, delivering an offensive performance reminiscent of last summer’s championship run while moving one win away from advancing to the Alumni Bracket semifinals.
Wichita State seized control from the opening tip, racing out to a 26-10 first-quarter lead behind a balanced offensive attack. The AfterShocks continued to pour it on in the second quarter, using a barrage of three-pointers to extend their advantage to 48-22 at halftime. Marcus Keene caught fire from beyond the arc, knocking down four first-half three-pointers as the defending champions built a 26-point lead before the break.
AfterShocks never allowed The Enchantment into the game. The lead grew to as many as 36 points in the third quarter before New Mexico found its rhythm offensively during the Elam Ending, trimming the final margin to 21 points.
Corey Washington led the balanced AfterShocks attack with 23 points and seven rebounds in his TBT debut, while QJ Peterson added 18 points. Keene finished with 16 points and Marcus Santos-Silva anchored the interior with 10 rebounds and five assists. AfterShocks received 59 points from their bench and finished with five players scoring in double figures.
The Enchantment was led by KJ Jenkins with 22 points, while Jemel Jones added 21 points and Vance Jackson chipped in 16. Despite connecting on 13 three-pointers, the New Mexico Alumni were unable to overcome a slow start that saw.
AfterShocks controlled the game on both ends of the floor, outrebounding The Enchantment 45-31 while holding a 38-22 edge in points in the paint. Wichita State also dominated with 59 bench points and forced 14 turnovers that led to 28 points.
The two teams will meet again on Thursday, July 23, at 8 p.m. CT at Charles Koch Arena for Game 2. AfterShocks can clinch the series with a victory, while The Enchantment will look to force a winner-take-all Game 3. Tickets are available to purchase HERE.
