Semi-final Preview: (1) AfterShocks vs. (2) Americana for Autism

,

Josh Goldfine, TBT Staff

This is a matchup of two teams that have enjoyed prior TBT success and now find themselves one win away from playing for TBT’s $1 million prize.

ESPN and TBT analyst Fran Fraschilla evaluated each team. Below is an excerpt of TBT’s interview with Fraschilla:

AfterShocks

How they got here

Round 1: Defeated Bleed Green 70-69

Round 2: Defeated Air Raiders 70-60

Round 3: Defeated We Are D3 83-52

Round 4: Defeated Gutter Cats 74-67

Fraschilla’s breakdown

“You’re talking about a well-oiled machine because you’ve got a bunch of former Wichita State Shockers that play well together. What I love about this team is the balance of inside and out. You’ve got guys like Shaq Morris, Zach Brown and Darryl Willis (game-winning shot in the Wichita Regional Final). They can really get buckets around the paint. And then, on the perimeter, it starts with Conner Frankamp, who has proven to be a big, clutch shot maker throughout his career. Tyrus McGee also…They can win if they get a great balance of inside-out…and also, they have to play well on the road because they just played four games at home in Wichita.”

Americana for Autism

How they got here

Round 1: Defeated Team AboutBillions 114-57

Round 2: Defeated Fort Wayne Champs 87-78

Round 3: Defeated Zip ‘Em Up 76-72

Round 4: Defeated Florida TNT 93-83

Fraschilla’s breakdown

“What a great story because they’re playing for $1 million, and what a huge cause, because three of their players have autistic children…and the awareness has been unbelievable for them. Inside-Delroy James-is a left-hander who can score inside and out. You’ve got Talib Zanna and Olufemi Olujobi inside [and] Darryl Monroe. Those four guys did a great job neutralizing Keith Clanton [scoring big man] from Florida TNT…On the perimeter for Autism Army is Isaiah Swann, who is [retired] but still playing at a really high level. Nigel Johnson was a terrific player [at] Virginia…Chris Wright did not play at Rucker Park. He comes off the bench in his first game at Dayton in the quarterfinals and was great. This team has balance inside and out.”
