DAYTON, Ohio – Blue Collar U uses a motto: players play; tough players win championships.
The University of Buffalo alumni squad is now one win away from the $1 million TBT championship after playing to that motto once again in a 74-69 semifinal win over Red Scare.
Wes Clark poured in a team-high 22 points – including the Sling Shot – on 8-for-14 shooting in the victory.
“We trust him,” said forward Nick Perkins of Clark, who has never lost a TBT game, having missed last summer’s semi-final loss with an injury. “He’s a leader out there on the court.”
Perkins, whose 21 points led the way in the quarterfinal win over Heartfire, added a double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) in the win for Blue Collar U, which improves to 9-1 all-time in TBT.
“We had different guys hitting big shots,” said Perkins. “My job tonight was to rebound and defend. We did a good job down the stretch playing together as a team.”
Scoochie Smith led the way with 22 points in the losing effort for the Red Scare, which shot just 35% from the field.
