These two teams that reached the Syracuse Regional Final earned their way to the Round of 16 via difficult tests in Round 2.
Blue Collar survived a 12-point deficit in a Round 2 win over Friday Beers, a game which was as physical as any in TBT this summer. Blue Collar, a semifinalist last year in its TBT debut, has its sights set on even greater heights this summer. CJ Massinburg (17 ppg) leads four players averaging in double-digits for the University of Buffalo alumni squad. Blake Hamilton and Nick Perkins fill the middle.
The Nerd Team pulled off one of TBT’s biggest upsets, holding off a late surge from Boeheim’s Army to send the Syracuse University alumni squad home in Round 2. Tyler Nelson’s three-pointer hit the Target Score in the win over Boeheim’s Army, a game in which The Nerd Team Shot 55% from beyond the arc and took the home crowd out of the game until a furious Elam Ending rally from Boeheim’s Army made the final score close. Jelan Kendrick leads the way at 17.5 ppg.
