AFTERSHOCKS AND EBERLEIN DRIVE ADVANCE TO TBT $1 MILLION CHAMPIONSHIP GAME IN WICHITA
(2) Eberlein Drive: 85 – (3) Best Virginia: 77
Eberlein Drive defeated host team Best Virginia to advance to their second-ever TBT $1 Million Championship Game, last appearing in the championships in 2018. After trailing by three at halftime, a 7-0 third quarter run by Eberlein Drive gave them control. Clinging to a two-point lead entering the Elam Ending, Gabe York proved to be the difference, scoring all eight of Eberlein Drive’s Elam points, including a series of tough, off-balance shots. York finished with 25 points and three 3-pointers, moving into second place among TBT’s overall scoring leaders and first in three-pointers made (heading into the Aftershocks vs. We Are D3 game later tonight). Eberlein Drive dominated the boards throughout the night, out-rebounding Best Virginia 43-22 overall and 19-5 on the offensive glass. Eberlein Drive will face the winner of Aftershocks vs. We Are D3 in the TBT Championship Game on Sunday, August 4 at 4:00 p.m. ET. The game will be played in Wichita if Aftershocks win, or at Knights Hall at Bellarmine University in Louisville if We Are D3 advances.
(2) Aftershocks: 66 – (4) We Are D3: 54
The Aftershocks are heading to their first TBT Championship Game in program history, accomplishing the milestone in their sixth year as a team. Marcus Keene, who finished with 10 points, moving him to eighth on TBT’s all-time scoring list, delivered the Elam Ending winner once again to seal a 66-54 victory over We Are D3. The Aftershocks set the tone early with a dominant defensive performance, holding We Are D3 to just 17 first-half points, the fewest scored in a half by any team in this year’s tournament. We Are D3 closed the gap to within eight during the Elam Ending, but a technical foul on Ty Nichols (14 pts | 7 rebs | 7 asts) gave Keene the chance to end the game at the free throw line. The Aftershocks will host Eberlein Drive in the TBT Championship Game on Sunday, August 4 at 4:00 p.m. ET at Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, live on FOX.BOX SCORE | HIGHLIGHTS
