July 24 | Wichita, Kan.
The AfterShocks (Wichita State Alumni) erased a seven-point halftime deficit Friday night, rallying to defeat The Enchantment (New Mexico Alumni) 73-67 in Game 3 at Charles Koch Arena to advance to the Alumni Semifinals. The victory sends Wichita State to a Monday night showdown with JHX Hoops (Kansas Alumni) at Koch Arena on FS1
Just one night after The Enchantment forced a winner-take-all Game 3 with a 74-68 victory, the New Mexico Alumni once again came out firing from beyond the arc. The Enchantment knocked down five three-pointers in the opening quarter and finished the first half shooting 8-for-20 from deep, building a 38-31 halftime advantage.
The momentum shifted after halftime as TBT veteran Marcus Keene caught fire. Keene scored 12 points in the third quarter, helping the AfterShocks erase the deficit and take their first lead late in the period. Wichita State outscored The Enchantment 24-13 in the third quarter to carry a 55-51 advantage into the fourth before entering the Elam Ending with a 64-62 lead and the Target Score set at 72.
QJ Peterson took over when it mattered most, scoring all nine of Wichita State’s points during the Elam Ending to seal the 73-67 victory.
Keene led the AfterShocks with 23 points, adding three assists while shooting 8-of-16 from the field. Peterson finished with 16 points, Marcus Santos-Silva recorded 12 points, 11 rebounds and four assists, and Rashard Kelly contributed 10 rebounds as Wichita State controlled the glass 33-26 and outscored The Enchantment 32-14 in the paint.
The Enchantment was led by KJ Jenkins and Jemel Jones, who each scored 15 points, while Jayland Randall added 11 off the bench and CJ Noland chipped in 10. Despite knocking down 13 three-pointers, New Mexico cooled off after its hot start and shot just 42.9 percent from the field in the loss.
With the win, the AfterShocks advance to the Alumni Semifinals, where they will host JHX Hoops (Kansas Alumni) on Monday at 8:00 p.m. CT on FS1 at Charles Koch Arena. The winner will advance to the TBT Alumni Championship. Tickets are available to purchase for Monday’s matchup at tbthoops.com/tickets.
