Mayo and Vick Return to JHX Hoops this Summer for Showdown with Kansas State
JHX Hoops, the Kansas alumni team, today announced that Zeke Mayo and LaGerald Vick will return to the team this summer for their best-of-three series against Purple Reign (Kansas State alumni).
Mayo and Vick join Frank Mason III as the team’s first three commitments. Additional players will be announced in the coming weeks. This summer’s tournament will be the fourth time Vick has suited up for the Kansas alumni team, and the second time for Mayo.
A native of Lawrence, Mayo transferred to Kansas in 2024 after three seasons at South Dakota State. In his only season as a Jayhawk, Mayo averaged 14.6 points per game and was named Third-team All-Big 12. Mayo spent the 2025-26 season with the G League’s Cleveland Charge.
Mayo averaged 12.3 points per game for JHX Hoops last summer, helping to lead the team to a Kansas City Regional finals appearance.
Vick spent four years at Kansas (2015-19), helping lead the Jayhawks to two Elite Eights and one Final Four. After coming off the bench in his first two years, Vick established himself as a starter in his junior campaign, averaging 12.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. Vick established himself as an elite shooter in his senior year, setting the Kansas record for most three-pointers made in consecutive games (15) and shooting 46% from three on the season.
Vick began his professional career in Taiwan in 2019, and has since played professionally across South America and New Zealand.
As part of the best-of-three series between JHX Hoops and Purple Reign, both teams will have a chance to host at least one home game. The first game of the series will take place at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan Tuesday, July 21, at 8 pm CT, and will be televised live on FS1. Game two will be played at Lee Arena in Topeka (JHX Hoops designated home gym) Wednesday, July 22, at 7 pm CT and will be televised live on FS2.
Game three (if necessary) will be played back at Bramlage on Friday, July 24, at 8 pm CT and will be streamed live on YouTube.
